Plan your visit

Parking lots open two hours before the start of every game (except the home opener); tailgating is permitted until the scheduled start of the game and is not permitted afterward.

Getting in

Gates. Gates to the ballpark normally open 90 minutes prior to first pitch (with the exception of the home opener). Gate times differ for the home opener; any other changes to gate times are announced via press release and the team's social media channels. 35th Street closes 90 minutes prior to the scheduled first pitch.
Transit. Rate Field is just off the Sox-35th station of the CTA Red Line (wheelchair accessible) and served by a number of bus routes. The Metra stop is at 35th Street just east of the Dan Ryan Expressway on the Rock Island Line; the Bronzeville station is accessible. Lines: CTA Red Line (Sox-35th station), Metra Rock Island Line (35th Street / Bronzeville station), CTA bus routes.
Rideshare. Fans are encouraged to use rideshare. The Rideshare Lot is located in Lot A on the Wentworth Avenue side for pick-up and drop-off, open until one hour after the conclusion of home games. Rideshare arrivals should enter and exit through Gate 5.
Tailgating. Tailgating is permitted in the parking lots until the scheduled start of the game and is not permitted after the game. Tents or other obstructions in the main pathways are not allowed; fans must set up in their own parking space and keep pathways clear for emergency personnel and traffic.
Accessibility. Designated ADA parking is available in Lot C, Lot E and Premium Lot B for vehicles with disability placards/plates, with drop-off/pick-up allowed in Lot B. Sightline-accessible and wheelchair seating is located on all levels, reached via elevators at Gate 5 and behind home plate and escalators at Gates 3 and 5; every washroom is wheelchair-equipped, service animals are welcome, and wheelchair escorts are available at the gates.
Entry. Rate Field uses walk-through metal detectors at each entry gate, and all bags are subject to search or will not be allowed in. Once a guest exits the ballpark they may not return (no re-entry). Prohibited items include weapons, backpacks of any kind, hard-sided bags/containers, glass/metal/aluminum containers, bottles or cans, outside alcohol, noisemakers, drones, aerosol cans, and selfie sticks/tripods.

Parking lots

Lot A. Located at 35th and Wentworth; holds all group buses (prepaid passes via group sales). Also the designated Rideshare Lot on the Wentworth Avenue side for pick-up/drop-off, open until one hour after games.
Premium Lot B. Designated ADA parking for vehicles with state-issued disability placards/plates. Fans needing assistance may be dropped off/picked up in Lot B; access to Lot B and Gate C via 33rd Street.
Lot C. Designated ADA parking. Northwest corner of 35th & Shields hosts the independent bag-checking facility.
Lot E. Designated ADA parking for vehicles with state-issued disability placards/plates.

What size bag can I bring into Rate Field?

Rate Field requires a clear bag no larger than 12" x 12" x 6". Permitted bags are clear plastic/vinyl/PVC bags not exceeding 12" x 12" x 6", or small non-clear clutch bags measuring 9" x 5" x 2" or smaller. Diaper bags (when a child is present) and medically necessary bags are allowed, subject to additional search. Prohibited: any non-clear bag larger than 9" x 5" x 2", backpacks (including clear backpacks), soft/hard coolers and ice chests, drawstring bags, luggage, and computer bags. Exceptions to the bag/carry-in policy are made for diaper bags (when a child is present) and medically necessary bags, subject to additional search. Guests needing an exception should enter Gate 5 and ask for a security supervisor.

Does Rate Field require a clear bag?

Yes. Rate Field enforces a clear bag policy, and a clear bag may be no larger than 12" x 12" x 6". Limited exceptions apply.

Can you bring outside food into Rate Field?

Single-serving food items may be brought in if contained in one of the approved bags under the bag policy or carried in your hands so they can be safely screened by security; guests may also carry food in a small, clear see-through plastic bag. One factory-sealed or empty plastic bottle no larger than one liter is permitted. Guests needing an exception to the carry-in policy should enter Gate 5 and ask for a security supervisor.
